Nameless Esports is a gaming community centered around the game Rocket League. The organization hosts weekly tournaments, called Rocket Rush, to bring the community together and provide an opportunity for players to compete and win rewards. I was hired to animate the existing Rocket Rush logo and design a social media ad to help promote the tournament to other communities. This project was challenging as I was given free rein to develop and execute a concept for the animation.

I began exploring the concept of building blocks, in which the logo builds upon and completes itself. However, to maintain clarity and a meaningful connection to the brand and tournament, I experimented with smooth movement. The core concept of the animation expanded beyond building blocks and integrated design principles of movement speed, which are often associated with excitement, urgency, or performance. Considering this, the animation fits well with the tournament’s brand—welcoming players of all skill levels to compete for a prize, requiring commitment and high-performance gameplay.

The ultimate goal of this project was to support audience reach, engagement, and potentially increase registered players. To maintain professionalism, I ensured every movement and transition was smooth, resulting in an animation that felt consistent and clear.

To support the promotion of the Rocket Rush tournament, I designed a social media ad.

I focused on composition and hierarchy, while also incorporating the concept of movement and speed. To grow brand awareness, I enlarged the logo and positioned it off to the left, becoming the first element a viewer sees.

Other key design choices involve the sharp, angled lines or shapes that frame how information is displayed. These sharp angles create a sense of movement, tying back to speed and performance.

Additionally, I added the triangle graphics around the text to continue the concept of speed and movement, while bringing attention to the incentives for participating.
