This project marked my introduction to motion design and Adobe After Effects, where I taught myself the program through tutorials while building a workflow from scratch. Alongside animation, I created a range of supporting graphic assets—including emotes, sub-badges, and profile elements—making it a well-rounded exploration of both motion and graphic design. Despite early challenges with exporting and optimization, the process strengthened my technical skills, improved my problem-solving approach, and sparked a continued interest in motion design.

The goal for this project was to create cohesive streaming assets all linked to the samurai theme. The client was hoping to achieve a calming, peaceful, and vibrant presence while streaming. To align with these goals, we decided to incorporate other symbols, such as cherry blossoms, Mt. Fuji, and a temple. In terms of the animation itself, I decided to integrate a gentle wind that slightly moves the samurai’s clothing and hair, water on the lake, tall grass, and branches on the cherry blossoms, resulting in falling petals. With these elements combined, the scene provokes a sense of calmness and peace.

In addition to the starting and ending scenes, I designed other graphic assets for the client’s stream, including a profile photo, sub-badges, panels, alerts, and emotes. The emotes were designed to resemble the client, with a variety of emotions or actions to choose from. These emotes would be a key engagement strategy for the client’s stream.
